About Us
Our mission
Today, we work to support kids and adults with cognitive disabilities, including intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), autism, and brain injuries. Too often, this community is overlooked, misunderstood, or dismissed. We work alongside the care teams who know them best to change that.
Who we serve
Awake Labs supports kids and adults with cognitive disabilities and the care teams around them: direct support professionals, families, behavior analysts, and clinicians working in community living, day programs, and home and community based services (HCBS). We work with individuals, families, care organizations, and payers across Canada and the United States.
What we do
Our platform combines a smartwatch app, a mobile app, and a web dashboard to deliver real-time remote monitoring of stress and strong emotions. Care teams use Awake Labs to identify triggers, understand behaviors, reduce intrusive measures, and build support plans grounded in objective data. We are assistive technology, sometimes called enabling technology, built for the way modern care teams actually work.
How we work
Awake Labs is headquartered in Toronto and operates as a fully remote team with flexible working hours. We are a Techstars alum, having completed the UnitedHealthcare Accelerator, and our work has been recognized and supported by care organizations, research partners, and funders across the I/DD sector.
If you share our mission and want to help shape the future of care for the I/DD community, we would love to hear from you.
